Today we got up and ready for church.  It’s a 9 am Sacrament meeting.  As we were going to get in the truck the lady in the next unit was outside and said, well, hello!  She very sweetly came over and introduced herself as Mitzie.  She has two teenagers.  She welcomed us to the neighborhood and said if we ever need any help moving anything to let her know.  Her kids would be happy to help out.  She was planting a bush outside her door and I said, oh, we can plant things?  She said sure!  The HOA doesn’t care.  They basically mow and each tenant can do what they want around their place.   She was doing her planting early before it got hot.

At church we sat in our usual place on the left side and soon a brother walked in and seemed confused and I said, are we in your place?  And he said, oh, no, no.  I can just sit here.  And he sat at the end of our little bench with his stuff.  His wife (apparently) came in a little later and looked at us and then asked the people behind us if she could sit with them.  Maybe we will wait till everyone is seated next time and then choose a seat.  The lady in front of us looked around and introduced herself and we visited a little.  She lives just up the street from us in a new development in Newport.
It was the ward conference and there were lots of stake visitors so I’m not surprised that more people didn’t greet us.  It was interesting to hear that they have a membership of 639 and weekly attendance of 140.  Maybe there’s something for us to do here after all.  Our bishop is black which makes me very happy.  Jer and I remember the day, the very hour, we heard that ALL worthy men could hold the priesthood.   And now we have a black bishop.  How cool is that?  He’s young; his family is young.  I would guess his oldest is maybe 10.  They sat two rows ahead of us in Sacrament meeting.  Next week is stake conference and also Father’s Day.  Why did they schedule that?  I don’t know what we are going to do.  I liked the stake president.  He was funny and he was spiritual.  But we don’t even know where the stake building is.  Maybe we will go to church with Lara.
After church we went home and changed and relaxed.  Blessed Sunday.  No working on the condo.  Then we went to dinner at Barneys and had a delicious pasta dish and broiled chicken.  It was fun to hang out with them and play games and eat yummy snacks and enjoy being here.  We came home later and went to bed to get ready for the next day.
