Happy birthday,
Raylyn! First order of business after
breakfast was opening the wall under the washer faucets and calling the
plumber. He said he could come between
1130 and noon. Yay!! Jer thought it would save time to have the
wall open and he was right. While we
waited for the plumber Jer assembled my little kitchen cart where I plan to
keep all the baking supplies. I can wheel it into the kitchen when I need it
and it can stay out of the way otherwise.
Then he hung a towel bar in the bathroom, cleaned out the tub drain and
got ready to hang the picture over our bed.
The plumber
came and was able to take off the hose, eventually replace that faucet
altogether, and hook up the washer. They
tested the drain to be sure it wouldn’t overflow when it was used. So we were in business!! We have a washer. Jer will close up that hole in the wall in a
few days when he sees that nothing leaks.
We didn’t want to take time to move and hook up the dryer just now
because we had some errands to run so Jer changed clothes and off we went to
Kingwood. It’s a half hour drive to
Kingwood and almost anywhere else. It’s
a lot of driving. But we got to the insurance
office and signed up for renter’s insurance for the condo. After that we met Lara and Sam at the bank to
set up an account. We had asked Lara to
handle all the business here for the condo while it was in process of sale so
she had some money we had sent her. She
brought her check book and we set up an account with the remains of that money
as the initial deposit. So we were
official now! Insurance, bank
account. Now all I need is a library
card. We did see the Crosby library
today. It’s just beyond the post office
down the street from Arlan’s grocery store.
Sam came
back with us because he was going to wash our windows. He is making money to buy a lathe and bought
a squeegee to do it. He was very helpful
while we did more shopping for parts we needed for further projects and some
door mats and a rug for the entry floor.
When we got home he got to work washing the windows. We got to work finishing up hanging the
picture over our bed, taking gluey stuff off the mirror, repairing the toilet
handle, and starting dinner. I wish I
could remember to take pictures! He was
very diligent at washing all the windows.
After that he showed me a place to go on the computer to play Zelda
games created by fans.
All during
the day it rained off and on. It would
pour down and then clear up and have sunshine.
Then it would pour and then sprinkle and then pour. It finally cleared up for a nice sunset. I love the rain. It’s warm.
We got soaked just running from the bank to the car. Great big wet drops.
After we
took Sam home we were tired again from a busy day. We ate dinner and are now relaxing. Jer was trying to find a movie and On Demand
isn’t working. It’s a problem in our
area. Maybe the storm broke some lines
somewhere.
