Today doesn't seem like we did much, but it was all important. Jer painted the mantel and wall above it and below the hearth with the primer coat and it has dried now. Tonight he is going to paint the edges with the real color!! We're getting there.
We also had the locksmith come out to change the locks on the front door so that the place it really and truly ours and not subject to someone with a previous key gaining entry and living here again. Sorry, I didn't think to take his picture. He was fast and good.
I also made the curtains for the little windows and I'm very pleased with how they turned out. I got a fabric that is the two colors of the wall with the light on it and in shadow: a background color and tiny stripe. So it blends very nicely. I think it was a lovely tender mercy of Father in Heaven because I walked into WalMart and there it was just the right colors, fabric weight, length and price: it was $2.50 a yard. That's near to impossible, you know. I made all of them, but we have to wait till that living room wall is painted to hang the ones that go in there. This one is in our bedroom and I put the other one in the guest room. I was really surprised that it took the whole 60 inch width to make it nice. I totally thought it would be way too wide. But I think it's just right now.
When Jer was done with the painting he took off the vertical blind rod that was over the living room glass door. That means a lot to me because that means we are getting close to being done. We just have to paint the wall and hang the new curtain rod and curtain and then we will have privacy in the evenings!
After that he cut the picture frame and glued it together so that it will be a square. Tomorrow we will take the glass to the shop and see if they will/can cut it to fit. We don't know how old the glass is so it may be too old to cut cleanly, but in that case we could just get another piece.
I am very pleased now because when we first came Jer was still recovering from his operation and didn't have much energy. He also could hardly eat without after effects. Now he can eat well without digestive problems and he has lots more energy. He's getting back to normal. The doctor said it could take 6 months and it may for him to totally recover, but he is so very much better that we are extremely happy.
Your little curtain is so cute! It is just like I imagined.
