Wednesday
Alice and Robert went to school and Susan and James went out shopping for a couple clocks.  When she nurses the baby in the back room she has a clock radio to see how long she has nursed him and how long he takes on each side.  The other kids have started playing with the radio, changing stations and volume, playing with all the dials and buttons.  And a couple times the radio has come on in the early morning or middle of the night and waked the baby!  The solution to that inconvenience is a clock on the wall and for the radio to disappear for a while.  She chose a couple clocks, an elegantly understated one for the living room and another one for the baby's room.    Matthew and I stayed home and worked on gas bubbles. Alice had piano lessons after school and had forgotten her piano books but the teacher graciously came to get them so that Susan wouldn't have to go out and take them to her.

For dinner we made pad Thai.  Susan suggested I get all the ingredients ready during quiet time so that at dinner time it wouldn't be crazy doing it all at once and that was very helpful since dinner time was exactly when Matthew needed to eat again.  It was really good and I will have to try it at home later.

In the evening the kids from the ward came over to rake the bishop's leaves!  (Why didn't I think of taking pictures?!)  Susan made hot chocolate.  At the same time she put cracked oats in a pan and left it all night to become cereal by morning.   I'm interested to try it.

Tuesday
This was a day for experimenting by James.  He wanted to make really sure the boundaries were still there.  They were.  He and Matthew and Susan went to visit a friend and Robert and I stayed home and played games.  We played some puzzles on my tablet and then we played Battleship.  We had a fun morning.  Susan enjoyed getting together with a friend after so many days of relative isolation.  James had fun playing at another person's house and with different toys.  When they got home it was lunch and quiet time.

After quiet time Susan made onion soup from the America's Test Kitchen cook book.  It requires roasting the onions for an hour or so and then sauteing and steaming them for another hour or so and then adding the liquid.  It was served with a toasted artisan bread she had made earlier.  It was good, but Bobby and Susan decided it wasn't any better than their old favorite recipe and not worth the time and effort it took.
