Yesterday was a very productive day! We became official Texans! We went to the temple in the morning and then after lunch we started the processes. We went first to register the cars and that took an hour standing in line, and then we went to get driver's licenses. That took another hour but we could sit most of the time. We had read that the lady at the drivers' license office was really nasty to deal with but we got lucky and had a very nice lady help us. In fact everyone was so very nice to deal with. We were so happy to get it all done in one day. Dad was afraid it would take too long and we would have to try again next week on his next day off. So we have Texas license plates on both vehicles now.
the man is also thinking he may quit. He is really not enjoying his work. The general manager is a crazy woman that writes hysterical emails and makes everyone stress. There is a mandatory two hour meeting on Sunday (not getting paid for it) and he thinks he may just give her a week's notice. I say none too soon. He doesn't need the stress and we don't need the money that bad. It would be nice for him to drive to Galveston and check out the fishing, maybe go fishing on a bay boat. And he would like to have time to fix the things around the condo that need attention, getting it ready to sell when we get the Orem house sold. Besides, isn't it time for him to let go of all that stress and enjoy his retirement?
We have reduced the price of the Orem house this week $5000 so we are getting more showings. We really hope that the right people show up this week and love it and can't live without it. :o)
I'm still doing indexing and Sarah Jane has me reading the Percy Jackson series. I've finished the first two books and will start the third one today. She has them all as gifts from her siblings and she loves them. I haven't had a chance to discuss them with her yet, but will attend her game Saturday and maybe get the next three books. Reading them makes me wonder how the people back then could believe in such vindictive, immature gods. What a terrible way to have to think of the afterlife and someone like that controlling your life here. I'm so very grateful to know we have a loving Father that wants only good for us and shows us how to get it.
I have to go now and get someone to trim up my bangs. I cut them myself :o) and have to have them fixed.
Hey, I'm reading the Percy Jackson series, too! I'm about halfway through the first one, and I just picked up the second and third from the library tonight. Really enjoying it so far.
ReplyDeleteDad shouldn't have to work anywhere he doesn't enjoy. And now he's Texan. Texans don't stand for that sort of thing ;)
ReplyDeleteYou're right! His last day is Sunday. And no two hour meeting after. He talked to the owner (not the general manager) and it's all cool now. She may want him to work that last week in April when it's crazy with procrastinators coming in, but isn't obligated. So he's done!
DeleteSo I always play a mental game with license plates. I try to come up with the shortest word that uses all the letters in the order in which they appear. Guess what I got for your new plate?
ReplyDeleteWhat are the rules? Do you have to end with the same letters or can you finish with something else like "fight"?
ReplyDeleteYou just have to use the letters in the order in which they appear. The word can begin or end with any letter in the alphabet. "Fight" is what I got for yours. Mine is DZL. Want to play?
