Jer's hours are better this coming week.  He will have to work next Sunday but will have Wednesday off.  That will be refreshing.  He says the general manager is not so nice and so it's not as enjoyable as in Utah where it's a lot more relaxed.  This lady thinks if you aren't with a client you should be on the phone calling past clients and inviting them in or researching how to do everything better.  All the time.

But he is pretty good looking in his official shirt, right?   He has a booth in the Atascocita WalMart with the lady behind him.  She's the manager of that little location.  Not the bad manager.  If it gets too bad he can just quit.  He's about the best one they have because he has the most experience.  He is thinking that everyone quits because the manager is so bad and they have to start with new people every year.  He says he's going to ask the owner of the franchise if they have trouble keeping people.

I stopped in and took these pictures after going to Sarah's basketball game in Kingwood.  Atascocita is on the way to Kingwood.  It takes 15 minutes to get to FM 1960 which is the street that goes into town from the Crosby main street.  Then it takes another 20 minutes to get to Lara's house from that intersection.  I'm being specific because it irks me so much to have to drive so long to get to anything that I want to get to.  Am I being a baby or what?  When we were condo shopping Lara told us Crosby is that far and we were just happy to have found a nice condo in the area.  I'm happy we have it and enjoy it very much.  I'm glad we are at least this close to the Barneys.  And the man, of course, is patient and has no problem with driving a half hour to get anywhere.

Anyway, it was fun to be at Sarah's game.  She's 9 and they all are about the same skill level.  Sarah is in the red shorts.

She was great at guarding her one person.  Lara says sometimes she loses track of the game concentrating on being a good guard. I think kid games are much more fun to watch than the professional ones.

I'm pleased that I am learning how to get around by myself.  It was raining and I still found everything that I needed to find.  I still love the rain.  Not so much driving in it, but hearing it outside when I'm home and cozy.  Which is most of the time.  I get to hang out and enjoy the condo while Jer is working.  I mean to ask the RS pres tomorrow if I can sub with someone visiting teaching or something.  They probably won't give us jobs because we plan to move again in a few months.  We will see.  Depends on how much they need help.

I keep looking at houses in Kingwood and thinking maybe I could enjoy that one, or maybe that one.  We still haven't had a good offer on the Orem house though.  But it looks like the other houses in the area aren't moving either.  We're not discouraged yet.  The season will start in about a month.

I am reading some Agatha Christie and some Murder She Wrote and some Fanny Flagg.  And I have a couple games on my little Kindle.  I do indexing and Susan says she will give me some family history things to look up.  I'm in the right area now to do some things.  We visited my grandparents' graves when we were here before and there are probably more things I can do along those lines.

My cousin texted me and said her mom is in Conroe once a week bowling.  I thought it would be fun to meet up with her and visit a little but Conroe is about 2 hours away.  If Lara goes with me it would be more fun.  She says she could do that so I will have to give Gloria a call and see if she is willing.

  1. If you're still looking for things to do, I would love for you to photograph your dad's and grandparents' graves and any other sites related to your childhood in Houston. Is your elementary school still there? Maybe you could find historic photos from when you lived there? Maybe take pictures of anything familiar and write a little blurb about it. I would love to have that info.
