It's hard to write these entries now because I forget what we've done in the past few weeks. Just more and more of the same, mostly. But we did make progress on Heather's room. We started taking off the wallpaper and a few sheets came off pretty easily but then it got really hard. It was just coming off in inch square pieces. I was so frustrated thinking that it would NEVER be done. So I asked Heavenly Father for help. He knows how to get wallpaper off better than I do. And He told me what to do. I did it and it came off so much better I was finished by the afternoon. :o)
As we were taking it off we discovered some possible termite infestation. Not a good thing. But as Jer examined it and took off wallboard yesterday it appears that they only did damage to some paper over the insulation and one board that is non-essential. And they seem to be all gone now and for a long time before. So we are safe to continue with the remodel. Jer is covering the heater duct with wallboard and that has been tricky but he has managed to make it nice. Now I get to wash the walls and get it all ready to paint.
Jer has trimmed the berries and planted about 20 ends in the ground for starts for friends to plant next spring. We will have to do the grapes soon because we can smell their beautiful fragrance in the whole back yard. We still have 4 cases of last year's juice, but we will get through that pretty quickly. We hadn't been drinking it for a while, but now Jer has started again.
Kristin gave us a list of questions that will make it easy to write a biography and I see that when I wrote mine earlier I could have included some of these things so I am going through and doing that. Jer said he would write what he hadn't written before and that came to 6 pages of incidents. We can get those all ready for dispersion before the end of the year.
Since we will be leaving the end of November and plan to be gone some of each year we have been released from our callings. Mine was made official today but Jer was interviewed and nominally released but it hasn't been made official yet because of the stake conference, temple dedication, general conference and so forth and now one of the new counselors is gone and it won't be done till two weeks now. It will have been more than a month since he was interviewed and released. I have loved serving with our RS president. But I knew I needed to be released and I had already emotionally checked out. So I'm grateful that it's finally done, but sad at the same time to be losing that relationship.
Today, Sunday, we are having lots of thunder and it should be raining soon. I love the rain. It rained most of yesterday a nice steady rain. We are also baking a strawberry rhubarb pie. Mmm. The house smells good and it's cozy inside. A very nice day.
Strawberry rhubarb pie... sounds so good.
