Another two weeks gone by and me forgetting to write it down.

Well, we did make it official to our family and friends that we will be moving and not just going away for half the year as we had originally thought. It will be sad to leave relationships here but it will be best for us to settle in one place and that a warm place.  I realize that it's too hard for me to not belong anywhere and it will also be better for us financially too.

I announced it on Facebook to our ward family and the next morning we got a call from a friend that loves our yard who wants to buy the house.  They came and looked and we told them what we were planning to do since the whole house is torn up right now with the carpet coming out and the wall redo and all the furniture in disarray, but they loved it all.  They want to buy but they can't afford it right now.  Bummer for all of us.  We really would like to see this family get the house.

Jer has been working nonstop on Heather's room wall and just yesterday it is finally done and ready to texture and paint.  You know it is perfect.  I have been packing and we have been moving furniture in preparation for painting.  Got most of the heavy stuff down from the upstairs and have the twin beds there for us to sleep in.  They will be easy to move later.  We have given away/trashed/DI'd so many things over the last few weeks.  It has been cleansing for us to see it go.  We are renewed every time something leaves our possession.  Things get really heavy over time.

As long as we have a place to use the computers, watch tv, and sleep we are okay.  We also had the pink bathtub with the ding in the corner and little spots in the bottom resurfaced.  It's pretty now, but I wonder if maybe it wasn't a good idea.  The new people will just have to take good care of it.  It has a 10 year warranty and should serve them well.

We also are replacing the worn carpeting on the front and back steps.  Jer had to burn off the glue from the previous carpet and should be able to apply the new this coming week.

I have a fever blister from the stress of what needs to be done, but if we keep at it surely it will finally be finished.  Jer will be letting me paint ceilings (!)  so at least I can help there.  This past week I spread mulch and weeded the back and the flower beds and I mow when it needs it.  I can do the grunt labor even if I can't do the skilled things.

In other news, Grace has finally qualified for her driving license!  She is finally free and able to go and do as she pleases.  She got a job at Sensuous Sandwich and will be making money for gas and other necessities.  The day we went to get her driving test her car was making funny noises and we thought, Oh heck!  Just as she's able to drive it it breaks down!  But Lisa decided it was just dirty brake linings and sure enough a good wheel bath made all the nasty noises go away!!  So she's on her way.

I wrote Mary Jean last year when we got the condo and told her our plans and so on, but she didn't answer.  Sometimes when I would write her the email would get lost in all the other stuff she gets and so I didn't really worry about it.  This past week I forwarded that email and told her our new plans with a GREAT BIG HEAD and she still hasn't answered.  I worry that something has happened to her and no one has thought to let us know.  We really aren't on their radar and I don't take that personally, but it would be nice to know if something has happened.  We will for sure stop in and visit the office in December when we drive through.

So onward and upward.  It's a beautiful day today, sunny and cool and beautiful.  What a glorious Sunday!  Time to rest and refresh and get ready for what comes next.

  1. Thanks for the pictures! The house is pretty torn up. It's going to be really nice when it's finished, though. I had to smile about Dad burning off the glue on the front steps. That is a funny (but effective!) solution. And I feel the same way you do about getting rid of stuff, for the most part. I love to edit.
