Today we
planned to finish off the washer/dryer installation and put up some shelves in
the laundry area and our closet. We took
off to go to Home Depot to get the necessary materials and planned to stop in
at the Restore to see if they had some over the frig cabinets for us and at Verizon
to see about getting our On Demand restored since it went off last night. They are in the same general area. We didn’t put the Restore on our list,
however, so we forgot that one. Jer got
some pretty louver doors for the washer/dryer area and what he needed to finish
off the dryer vent. Verizon was able to
help us out and then we came home to learn that the dryer is 2 inches too deep
to put the doors on. I didn’t even think
that would be a problem, though, because Jer can always find a solution.
He considered several options and finally decided
to extend the area opening edges out two inches. So now that is in process. But we do have them hooked up and
usable. That laundry has been the
biggest headache! But thank heaven for
Jer’s patience. He just continues to
work on it till he gets it solved.
Today he
installed both sets of shelves (laundry area and our closet) and started taking
off the facing from the laundry area.
We
also bought 4 smoke alarms and a fire extinguisher in compliance with our
insurance that we arranged yesterday. It
doesn’t sound like much but we are tired already. We made tacos for dinner and had everything
to do it!! Yay!
One thing we
did that I really appreciate is that when the washer and dryer were moved out
of the dining room we could try to put the microwave (that has been inoperative
and taking space on the main kitchen counter) on the upper counter over the
sink. We tried and the cord wouldn’t
reach and then we decided to put it on the wet bar and that was best of
all because it's out of the way AND usable. So there it will stay till we get
those cabinets for over the stove and frig.
Then Jer will install the microwave over the range.
Now we are
waiting for the On Demand menu to load and we will watch a little tv before
going to bed. Jer’s patience has been a magnificent
gift this trip. Sometimes I get
frustrated because he’s patient when I think we could do something faster. But this time he followed all the instructions
for setting up the tv maybe 4 separate times and never never lost patience. He just did what was necessary to get a
representative to help him. The same with
the darn dryer vent. He has been three
days trying to get that right and he just keeps on trying something else till
he finds the solution.
The condo is looking so nice. I am so excited to see it someday.
