This morning we got to go to a swim meet and see Mary, Sam and Sarah swim.  It was so huge!  I think everyone in the whole city of Kingwood was there.  There were hundreds of sunshade canopies with different teams and groups of kids under each with their leaders and volunteers.  Parents and siblings were wandering around and the loudspeaker was advertising the various delicious treats at the snack bar:  Tacos to go (in a Frito bag) were the most interesting I heard.  Lara was in charge of the 14 year old boys and Mary was in the next canopy with the 16 year old girls.  It went from 7 AM to 1PM so all the kids had a chance to swim several times.  It was really interesting to see the way it was conducted, as Lara said, with organized chaos. 

When we had seen them each swim we left to come home and start getting  more things done.  But first we had lunch at the Crawfish Shack.  We pass it every day and yesterday there was a sign that said this is the last week!  So we had to try it before it closed.  It was an open air dining area with a cover and sun shades that came down almost to the half wall.  We ordered 2 lbs of crawfish and a pound of shrimp, two corns, two sausages, and two potatoes.  When they came it took us a while to figure out the best way to crack them open, but we finally got the hang of it and finished off the 3 lbs of critters. You have to realize you throw away everything but the little tail of the crawfish so it wasn’t actually 2 lbs of edible meat.  It was an interesting experience but we don’t feel a need to do it again.   

When we got home we rested a bit and I made a Jello for dinner tomorrow at Barneys and  the Riley cake for the neighbor.  They aren’t home yet, though, so I have to watch and see when they get in.  Then Jer hung the shade off the balcony outside the bedroom glass door.  We decided to put that up to protect the glass door from stray golf balls while we’re gone and also to temper the sun in the afternoons.  It had an immediate cooling effect that was nice.  

 Jer also installed the clothes hooks in the closet and the door stops that were missing, put up the paper towel holder and put on the shower head in the master bath.  I did the laundry for the first time here and it worked very well.  I think we need to have the dryer checked, though, because it’s terribly loud.  Maybe the closet doors will soften the sound when they are finally up.
