It finally came! We don't know what happened to the first one, but Heidi finally called her friend and he sent another one next day FedEx. It arrived February 15th and we got to open it! We are indeed going to the Arizona Phoenix mission as member support missionaries. I am studying French and trying to remember what I study. It's fun to finally have a good reason to do what I have always meant to do: keep up on French. It's not normally very useful here in Texas but there was once in the temple when a French speaker attended and needed some help. I got to assist and it made me happy to be able to do something for her. And now I will hopefully be able to do more with it. And learn as I go. I told my cousin I hope the French speakers in Phoenix have a good sense of humor.
Now we are waiting to see what the housing director in the mission can arrange for us. We didn't realize till we got called that we don't actually arrange our housing, the mission does. So we will see what happens with that. Dad is happy that we can rent furniture from the mission and don't have to drive a van full of our things there and back.
We will be giving our "farewell" talks on March 18th and then will be spending most of the following week with the Evanses and Erin on Goat Island near Galveston on a happy holiday. The bishop asked yesterday when we would like to speak and I said whenever he wanted if we really have to do it, but it would be nice to have it all done before we go away on a happy holiday or it won't be a happy holiday. So he set the date.
We will be set apart as missionaries on March 28th and leave for Provo on the 29th. We will arrive at Bennett's around midday on March 30th and hopefully get to see everyone and have dinner all together sometime between then and the second. We are super grateful to Heidi and James for letting us stay with them.
We are supposed to be in the MTC in Provo on April second and will probably spend a week there, maybe 10 days. We haven't been told how long. And then off on the adventure! We will drive to Phoenix and get started!
Thank you all for caring and being so supportive. We are grateful for each one of you and for your love and encouragement. Plan to come visit us in Phoenix!
