Long trip, left Susan's at 5:45 AM, left Champaign airport at 6:50 AM, arrived in Dallas at 9 AM and waited for the airport shuttle for an hour and finally took a taxi that they paid for, and finally left the Red Roof Inn where our truck was parked for the two weeks. We are now in Albuquerque resting and glad to not be driving for a little bit.

At home staycation. We went to the local park to play and enjoy the sunshiny morning. Birds, water, swings, lots of things to play on.
When we came home it was sprinkling and then stopped. The kids wanted to go out and pick corn and beans and play in the back yard. There was a little dirt fight and a great harvest. This is the result.
After quiet time we did some art projects with dye and napkins. Alice and Robert created some beautiful pictures.
Then we had a wonderful family home evening. Robert conducted and Alice taught the lesson about Rahab helping all the Israelites and bore her testimony. Then we played Mother May I and had treats. It was a great last day here.

Last day of swim camp and it was going to be a super fun day so Robert wanted to go. Susan went from the pool to the library so she could get some books on cd for the trip to the temple in St Louis tomorrow.
After she got home we mowed the lawn and Susan watered all her plants and generally organized the back yard and patio. She is growing some really nice long English cucumbers.
The kids had a good day at the pool and got home happy. After lunch and rest time we went out front to ride bikes and play. Jer walked Mara, the dog they are babysitting.
For dinner we stayed home and had delicious things while Susan and Bobby went for a date to a restaurant. After dinner we watched a movie on the wall. A really nice way to see movies at home.
It was a Nancy Drew mystery and Alice was a little nervous about some of the parts.

Temple Day! We got off at 7 in the morning for the 3 1/4 hour drive. The kids listened to a story, A to Z Mysteries, that kept them happily engaged the whole trip. We got dropped off at the St Louis Zoo for a fun day.
We rode the train.
petted guinea pigs
had lunch
rode the carousel
and had a treat.
We also petted chickens, saw the butterflies, and did lots of other wonderful things. Finally Susan and Bobby came to get us and we traveled 3 1/4 hours home. The kids were tired so they did some activities and rested. Grandma was tired too and woke up with her mouth open.

Get in the car, take Bobby to work, kids to swim camp, then to Home Depot for bolts to put up the new curtain rod supports. When we got to swim camp Robert didn't want to go so he went with us to Home Depot. They rode in the AWESOME basket and James didn't want to get out when we were done.
Then to the Hancock Fabrics to see if they have adequate curtain fabric. While we were waiting for the stores to open we watched the trucks and steam rollers and tractors and big machines that were spreading new parking lot asphalt. The boys thought that was worth the trip.
Robert likes to make funny faces when he gets his picture taken.
We looked at ready made curtains at Kohls and fabric at Hancock Fabrics and learned that it will cost $5 more to get them ready made, with no work so Susan will watch for a sale there at Kohls and get them then.
When we got home Jer put on the curtain rod supports and we cleaned out the guinea pig cage. It took a while but it was worth it.
In the afternoon Alice had piano lessons and Jer and Susan fixed the drain hose from the water barrel overflow to the downspout.
For dinner Susan wanted to order Mediterranean food so we had schwarma beef kabobs with rice and a homemade tabbouli. It was all really good. Dessert was watermelon and James decided he had a piece that looked like a car (oo-oo) that he drove around his tray before he ate it.
